Job Description:

The Department of Human Ecology at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a lecturer in Human Development & Family Studies beginning Fall 2023. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching courses in human development, family studies, and marriage and family relationships.

Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) is an approved program for the Certified Family Life Educator credential through the National Council on Family Relations. The HDFS program prepares students to work in the human services field. Courses are applied in nature to help with career readiness or to pursue graduate studies. HDFS is housed in the Department of Human Ecology. The HDFS program enrolls approximately 110 students with a total of 625 students and 22 full-time faculty in the department. In addition to Human Development & Family Studies, the department offers programs in Nutrition & Dietetics, Fashion & Textiles, and Food Service & Restaurant Administration. Our mission is to prepare competent professionals capable of developing solutions to the numerous complex issues affecting the well-being of individuals, families, consumers and communities. Duties include but are not limited to:

teaching introductory courses in marriage and family relationships and adult development as well as upper-level courses in helping skills, professional practice and courses related to the candidate's area of expertise.

Base Salary:

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Social Work, Psychology or other closely related field; experience teaching undergraduate courses in a face-to-face format; expertise in one of the following areas: addictions, gerontology, or early childhood; and ability to teach a variety of courses in human development and family studies, including family resource management.

Preferred:

PhD or comparable degree; more than two years of college teaching; applied experience in human services agencies, clinical settings, elder care, or early childhood; and experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse and/or multicultural populations.
