Program Director Jobs

A program director creates a detailed road and resource plan for all the people, places, supplies, and resources that the given program will require. A program director writes long and short descriptions of the program to be used in diverse marketing materials and crafts compelling marketing language to promote the program. A program director purchases, maintains, and lists all program equipment and coordinates necessary equipment procurement and maintenance. A program director evaluates programs and provides feedback as needed, supervises the provision of safety and in-service meetings, and establishes policies, procedures, and safety guidelines for all programs. A program director mainly reports and discusses activity schedule plans with an executive director and communicates program status to executive directors on a weekly basis. A program director communicates policy and information to program staff personnel and recruits, hires, and provides training and supervision for instructors and volunteers. A program director regularly reviews the program to assess the quality of the educational experience and to review the resources available in order to ensure that maximum benefits are being derived from the integration of the components of the program.

A program director position requires a BS degree with a minimum of two years of experience in staff management and supervision. A program director should have refined and well-organized multitasking skills. A program director should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and desktop publishing programs. Excellent communication skills are likewise required.
