Veteran Programs Manager

(AACOG)

This is a responsible, supervisory position; the Veteran Programs Manager performs advanced planning, research, consultative, technical and program administration services; Work involves operational support to the Director of Military and Veteran Affairs and staff in planning, developing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating veterans services, projects, programs and fiscal compliance, including program and fiscal data evaluations and reporting, and state and federal contract/grant management; Manages day-to-day operations of the AACOG Veterans Programs and Services and supervises program staff; Work also provides oversight of fiscal documentation, programmatic documentation, and reports to ensure state and federal rules, regulations, and other requirements are met in a manner that supports Performance Measures, fiscal measures, and other auditing methods; Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.

Compiles and analyzes statistical data related to program and fiscal performance of the state and federally funded AACOG Veteran Programs; Manages contracts; Develops budgets; maintains records and files in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in a manner that supports state and federal requirements; Sets strategic priorities for assigned programs; Coordinates and supervises work of program staff; May serves as data systems administrator for veteran programs client information systems; Organizes and conducts Advisory Committee meetings and activities; Interprets policies, rules or regulations and provides guidance to staff and service providers in relation to contract administration, policies, and procedures; Works with fiscal and program staff to compile and submit required fiscal and programmatic data to funding agencies and AACOG Leadership; Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Desired Degree/Job Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Sociology, Social Services, or a related field, plus at least two (2) years of progressively responsible, supervisory experience in the field of human services or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; Experience managing contracts and large budgets; Experience planning programs or projects and organizing resources and personnel to implement programs or projects; Supervisory experience leading, training and guiding subordinates; Experience with automated client database tracking systems; Experience building community networks and collaborations.

Other Qualifications:

U.S. Military Veteran Preferred. Experience with automated client database tracking systems and reporting metrics to funding agencies; Experience collaborating with community partners; Experience with government programs and benefits, rules and regulations related to veterans, and their family members; Strong fiscal background creating, implementing and managing budgets. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities; Experience managing resources and personnel to achieve program requirements and AACOG mission.

This position is a Pay Grade 20, with a starting annual salary of $59,904.00. This is an exempt position.
