VISTA Volunteer Jobs

A VISTA volunteer maps out recruitment opportunities in the given community and arranges recruitment events, primarily in congregations and faith-based organizations. A VISTA volunteer develops and facilitates educational and recruitment materials related to community programs. A VISTA volunteer identifies and meets with partner agencies in community programs, including senior citizens groups, youth programs, and civic clubs in the area. A VISTA volunteer identifies federal, state, and county officials who can assist in locating either the children of incarcerated parents or the parents themselves. A VISTA volunteer maintains program quality by planning monthly events to meet program goals and objectives and offers opportunities for senior citizens to maintain their self-esteem and usefulness through service to their community. A VISTA volunteer develops and submits reports, evaluations, and other documentation as required. A VISTA volunteer maintains professional knowledge and skills by attending relevant workshops, training, and conferences; reviewing professional materials and literature; and participating in professional organizations.

A VISTA volunteer position requires a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field. A VISTA volunteer should be able to prioritize and manage his or her workload independently. A VISTA volunteer should also have excellent administrative skills ( for maintaining files, typing, composing letters, etc.), as well as strong organizational skills. A VISTA volunteer should be a self-starter and have the ability to exercise independent judgment. A VISTA volunteer should also have strong communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of people.
