Job Family Description:
Develops, coordinates and provides advice, reporting and services on a variety of legal, compliance, regulatory, corporate and contractual matters. Represents or oversees the representation of Santander US or its various entities to minimize legal, compliance and regulatory risk by preventing or resolving issues and ensuring adherence to business and legal standards. Gathers, documents and examines data to determine and assess the compliance, regulatory and/or legal environment and to monitor ongoing activities and/or concerns. Researches, investigates, advises on and responds to regulatory developments, consumer practices, governance and corporate responsibility initiatives in order to safeguard and enhance the company and the Santander Groupâ€™s reputation
ob Function Description:
Works in a variety of ways to advance the companyâ€™s interests and maintain and enhance the companyâ€™s reputation by educating and influencing external audiences/stakeholders (i.e., customers, media, government organizations, general public) to improve the environment in which the company and its businesses operates. Develops and implements strategies for influencing government policy and legislative direction to foster favorable legislative, regulatory, political, community and economic operating conditions for the company. Oversees community relations/corporate responsibility and consumer practices initiatives in order to help address social, economic, and environmental challenges and promote the companyâ€™s positive image.
Coordinates financial education programs, volunteer programs and community development board service opportunities. Develops relationships with community organizations including those supported by Santander Bank philanthropy.
Works with mortgage, small business, and commercial business lines, the retail branch network, and support functions to implement the Bank's community development programs, provide financial education, and ensure employee engagement with underserved communities.
Ensures that community based partnerships and events within those partnerships are properly documented and accurately tracked in accordance with regulatory and management reporting requirements.
Coordinates community development technical assistance projects and serves on community development boards and committees.
Organizes community events and meetings including regional community advisory boards and We Are Santander Week events.
Leads the Bankâ€™s community needs assessement process including conducting meetings with community groups, focus groups and surveys. Documents community needs through preparing written reports.
Participates in the Bank's annual CRA self-assessment by working with business lines to document challenges to serving communities and writing summaries of significant community partnerships for the Bank's annual CRA self-assessments.
Participates in the Bank's grant making process by providing feedback on community partners and developing new community partnerships.
Promotes internal and external visibility of community partnerships by working with Marketing and Communications on internal articles, press releases and social media opportunities.
Provides training to employees on presenting financial education materials to consumers, community partners and small businesses.
Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) while providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other project managers.
Bachelorâ€™s Degree: Political Science, Social Science, Business or other undergraduate degree. (Required)
3-5 Years:Community development, CRA program or affordable mortgage lending experience (Required)
5-9 Years: Community development loan, investment, grant or financial education programs (Preferred)
5-9 Years:Retail or commercial banking experience in a CRA regulated bank (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of laws and regulations related to CRA, community development lending products, investment opportunities / vehicles and public support programs.
Excellent planning, project management, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and concern for accuracy
Solid technology abilities, including proficiency with Microsoft office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and strong internet research skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment and independent discretion in evaluating information, making recommendations, and communicating with others.
Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events on behalf of the organization
